Item Detail

Name: BRITISH KNIGHT BACHELOR breast badge in case of issue
Category: Militaria & Weapons
Description: Authentic breast insignia of Knight Bachelor (Type II, 1933-1977) in Garrard & Co. of London case of issue. Large and impressive oval silver-gilt breast badge of multi-part construction; the face with a red enamel ground with silver-gilt upright cross-hilted sword, belted and sheathed, spurs to either side, rowels upwards, all within the sword belt, within a scrolled border; the reverse plain with pin for wear. It is in very fine condition with no chipping of the enamel, and the pin is fully functional. The Badge was instituted on 21 April 1926 by King George V in response to a request from the "Imperial Society of Knights Bachelor" for a badge to denote their rank. Men knighted by the monarch had "Kt." after their name. The first badges ranged in height from 74mm to 80mm and in 1933 the Royal Mint introduced a smaller second version. This is authentic and in its original case by Garrard & Co. Please carefully look at the images and consider the item. Either PayPal or cashier/registered check from J.P. Morgan Chase or other reputable bank are accepted. It is a final sale, and the item is shipped via U.S.P.S. from New York City.
