Item Detail

Name: Ray-Glo gas radiant heater - J.H. Grayson Mfg. circa 1930
Category: Furniture & Furnishings
Description: Ray-Glo brand gas-fired radiant home heater from J.H. Grayson Mfg. Co., Athens, Ohio. The company was in business only during the late 1920's into the 1930's. The heater is in excellent condition for appearance and structural integrity. There is no obvious corrosion or other problems. The complete set of ceramic inserts (very fragile and removed for safe storage) are mostly in perfect condition. Two of the inserts have minor chips on the corners. The firebox seems to be tin and is completely intact. The heater is ornate cast iron with possibly some brass and/or copper plating embellishments. All parts of the heater seem to be present and intact. The working condition of the heater is unknown. I have had the heater for about eight years and have never tried to use it. The gas jet burner unit is intact, but if you intend to use the heater, you should have it checked out and installed by a qualified professional home heating specialist prior to using it for residential or commercial heating purposes. I have found only one similar heater listed anywhere on the Internet. It is listed on this site (Worthpoint) with a final eBay auction price of $317.50. http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/antique-ray-glo-gas-fireplace-heater The heater I have appears to be larger with more decorative metalwork. The outer dimensions of my Ray-Glo heater are appros. 31.5 inches wide, 32.5 inches high, and 8 inches deep. I have not polished the heater in the time that I have had it, so it has a slight rusty patina on the cast iron surfaces. The brass/copper embellishments can probably be polished to a high gloss. The buyer will pay for all shipping costs. This cast iron heater is very heavy! I will package the heater carefully and make it available to the shipping method of the buyer's choice. Local pickup is encouraged (Jacksonville, Florida) The $150 shipping charge shown below is only an estimate. I will not charge any shipping or handling costs, but the buyer must arrange the shipping method and pay for the actual cost of shipping.
