The brothers George and Job Ridgway went into partnership in 1792, taking over the Bell Works pottery in Broad Street, Hanley. They spilt up for a while, George keeping the Bell Works and Job starting a new pottery the Cauldron Works, and then reunited to form the Bellevue Pottery in Hull in 1806. Their sons and their progeny joined the business in coming years and the company continued operations, with several name changes, up to 1955. Then, as 'Ridgway Potteries Ltd', it became a part of Allied English Potteries Ltd.
