"But monochromatic and limited to a dozen poses, Little Green Army Men had nothing on those old lead minutemen and doughboys produced by Barclay, Manoil and Grey Iron, the major manufacturers of lead soldiers in the United States."

Sorry, can't agree. Plastic toy soldiers are cool and those made in the USA during the 1950s and 1960s are very high quality, but the older lead soldiers are very poor quality. The sculpting is week and the poses are cartoonish. Also, unless you find ones with original paint still in good shape or repaint them yourself, they look like crap and are too dangerous to even touch without gloves. Manoil, Barclay and Gray Iron are not fit to fetch a cup of coffee for Marx, Ideal and Timmee.
