I am also 50 this year. Personnally, I am very disappointed that Mattel did not bring out the 50 Anniversary Barbie as a Brunette. Happy Birthday anways, girl!

My name is Barbie and I am also 50 y/o. I grew up with her and have watched the newslines over the years about her. She is an icon to me (and many others I’m sure). So much has changed in the world since she was ‘invented’ — in the toy industry especially. There have been a lot of what I call “junk dolls” over the years that have come and gone; but Barbie dolls will always be special. Happy Birthday Barbie!

I am a collector too, and I hope Barbie stays around for a long time for other generations to enjoy. I still have my Barbie from 1969. My granddaughter also loves to play with Barbie. I have started a collection for her.

Personally I think that Barbie should be retired.The vintage dolls would esculate in value on their own merits.Barbie is doing a burnout and it shows.
