John,

If you could find that fan again after seven hours of shopping, you're not as bad at navigating as you think you are. I can't tell you how many times I've done the same thing, knowing right where to find it again, and couldn't. It is my recommendation speaking as a "vintage" shopper, if you see something you like at an antique show, buy it. You'll either be too tired to go back and get it, or you won't find where you saw it, and you'll be sorry later. For a person such as yourself, buy it and ask the dealer if you can keep it there and pick it up on your way back to your car. I've held items for my customers many times.

I'm interested in knowing the attendance. It doesn't look by your photo like anyone is there. Did you get ear that the dealers thought that might be attributed to the heat?

Glad you enjoyed Brimfield. It's certainly a lot of fun, and your characterization of it as a walk through history is on the mark.

One thing omitted, however, was the presence of porters, typically young men dressed in t-shirts with their phone number and rate penned on their t-shirt with a black marker. They provide a convenient option for those who find something that they want hauled somewhere and don't want to do the hauling themselves.

And coincidentally, on my trip to the mid-summer Brimfield show, I also bought a small fan and turned to Darryl for help. The housing and base are Bakelite, no "work of art," but perfect for a small corner of my desk on a hot day in New England. Thanks to parts spec'd and purchased from Darryl, it should be getting a little cooler here soon.
