I think it was a wonderful gesture on your part to take the time to look up the owner of the uniform. My father was a Marine in China in the 1930's. He was a small town farm boy who had his eyes opened to a wide amazing world. It changed his life. Recently, I have found memorabilia from that experience--pictures of fellow officers or commanders, pictures of places of attraction in China, letters home to his mother, and so much more. I would love to contact some of those people like you did, but I fear that they are all dead. Thank you for taking the time and sharing his story.

Not ashamed to say it got a little dusty at my desk reading that account. Well written, and reminding people the real reason for Memorial Day. Well done.
