Especially when all the Justice League reprints are slight variations of the sketch cover. I don’t get it either.

Thanks guys, I agree it’s a crap shoot. Why Justice League 1 6th print is selling for well over cover price is beyond me.

I agree with Matt. While there is no hard and fast rule, if a cover is beautiful or its done by a hot artist MAYBE it may go up depending on demand for it and scarcity of print. I have an uncanny x-force 1 (2nd print) and its well above the 1st printing. I bought it because I sorta liked the cover of it. Its a crap shoot at the end of the day. My advice is, if you like a cover of a 2nd print then buy it. Maybe you can frame it up some day. If you’re gonna buy it for monetary value then forget it. There’s so many ’2nd print variants’ out there that its next to impossible to keep track of them and demand seems to be less because of the chaos of it all. IMHO anyway.

Good question Spider. 2nd prints are odd in the sense that almost %100 of them are printed less than first prints but very few them become collectible. In some cases 2nd printings with alternate covers by popular artists can be sought after and other times, like in the case of the recent Our Love is Real comic that Image put out, the 2nd printing was the first at a major publisher and the first that was available to wide audience. There’s no hard and fast rule as to which 2nd printings will go up in value and there’s also no rule that says they’re not real collectibles. I personally own a few 2nd printings and bought them because the first printings were next to impossible to find.

What do you think of 2nd print variants? I see some on Ebay in the $20 dollar range. I would be curious to hear what you have to say.
