This little trick works well with Elmer's wood glue. You just have to be careful when you are using razors.

We have a lot of people that purchase vintage safety razors. However, they're looking to use these items, not display them. In this case, some cleaning is desired. This includes the removal of soap scum and water deposits and sanitizing the razor. All this is usually accomplished in one easy step. Scrubbing Bubbles. Spray it on, walk away, come back. Repeat if needed. It usually leaves desirable patina intact too.

This would probably also apply to other items where a gentle cleaning is appropriate.

Whatever you do, never use CLR on brass. It turns it pink.
