Hi
About 15 or so years ago, I bought a Steiff named 'Biggie' He has no buttons or tags. Is in great condition, the orange ribbon is still on him, but tattered :) I purchased him for, I believe, $80. One reason I did buy him is because I was told he was from 1959, and well, thats my birth year :)
I've tried recently to find out more about him, but can't. I see Steiff Biggies, but they are either sitting or standing. My 'Biggie' is laying down.
Do you have any idea of his worth, it would really be appreciated!
Thanks!

@Patty: your item is most likely the Steiff studio bengal tiger. This guy came in 60, 90, and 120 cm (measured sitting) so I am guessing that yours is probably the 90 cm version. These were made in the early 1960's through about 1967.

Something is worth what someone will pay for it, and I have not seen your guy firsthand to really get an idea of his condition. These pieces in really nice shape with at least one form of ID usually sell in the $500-1,2000 range depending on the channel and number of buyers interested.

I own the 3' tall sitting Tiger. My Great Aunt Pat bought for my mother when she was a little girl and saw it in the Higbee's store window. She got it for $100. I truly would like to know what it is worth today. He needs a little repair work, also.

I was browsing this site out of curiousity!..I was just in an antique and gift store and picked up what appears to be, a rather old Steiff hand puppet...looks like a 'fox'..but it is not readily apparent! I have looked through a few websites as well as E-bay...but I am not able to see anything even remotely similar!! - Would you have any information on this type of item and/or its value!??...or refer me to someone that night be able to help me out!?

Hi Melissa, do you have a pic of your buffalo? I'd love to see it. I have one too. Is yours about 8 ft long and 5 ft high? If so, he's from the early 60's. Cheers! Denis

I have a large Steiff Buffalo which my dad impulse bought from a sale about a year ago for £80. It is in very good condition with a button and label but we cant find any information about it anywhere. Its very big so we assumed it was from a store display.
