Hi, Harry:

I had to laugh when I read, "The strong personal bond between a collector and his collection is well known. Serious collectors have difficulty parting with anything, even duplicates. They become one with their objects."

That is SO me! I can feel my eyes glazing over when I acquire something of great interest or delight to me. Unfortunately for my husband I have lots of collections, as he wants some of the real estate on the shelves.

About eight years ago I decided I could relinquish some of the stuff I wasn't that crazy about. That started my eBay business. In the process I discovered I liked other things, too, and thus my collections continue to grow.

Sometimes when I have a hard time staying away from my favorite haunts, I work on a spreadsheet listing not just my collections, but what they are, where they came from, their ages, etc. At least I feel a little productive. This way, when they carry me out toes up, my daughter and grandkids will have provenance to sell off my collections. Poor things. Some inheritance, eh?!
