16" Vintage Korean Doll
- Item Category: Ethnic, Folk & Native American Art
This wonderful doll was brought back from Korea by my brother in the late 1950's. Marked Seoul, Korea and E I Minye on the bottom of the wooden stand she is mounted on. She is made of cloth and is draped with beautiful silks. Her long skirt is red silk with a hem of green and gold brocade. Her top is a cream colored silk with green and gold brocade sleeve hems and criss-cross neck and waist piece. Her scarf is Green silk with gold threads. Her fan is gold and green threads also and rimmed in gold, with a white tasseled end. She has two Green and Gold streamer ribbons - one on the front, one on the back. She has long, black, braided and plaited hair that flows down her back for about 6 inches. Her hair is braided at the top and has a gold thread and red, yellow and blue beaded hair piece. She has a white silk underskirt and white silk pajama pants underneath her clothes. She also has beige pointed shoes. She is missing an ear and the pearl earring that should dop from it, similar to the one that is there. There is a little area (1/2" x 1/8") at the top of her head where apparently some of the cloth rubbed off, so it appears a little whitened. There is a little fading of her front ribbon streamers. Otherwise, she is in wonderful condition with nice bright colors.
