Sabbies River Camp-Cain's River-New Brunswick, Canada
SOLD in 2009 on ebay!
would like to find it!!
A very unique set of 3 binders, 14 1/2 x 18, which are actually 4 ring binders, each with over 60 pages of hand written notes. Cover has printed " Sabbies River Camp-Cain's River-New Brunswick, Canada ". Lower right is printed " Seabury Stanton ". Pages inside are labeled---Sabbies River Camp Log...and that is what they are. Seabury Stanton and his wife kept a log or diary on their trips to their camp with friends and kept a log which mainly refers to fish they caught, location, weather, etc. Occationally their are notes on " news of the day " , such as Ted Williams buying a camp in their area, world series games, flood of 1961, but it mainly refers to fishing. Book 1 covers 1938-1952. Book 2 covers 1953-71. T is a third book, but that appears to be similar to book 1, but has some water damage so I think they copied it . T are 2 photos of the camp 3 1/2 x 5 1/4 . In addition t are about 30 loose sheets, 11 x 8 1/2 , of hand written and typed notes on fishing in the 1940s-50s. Seabury Stanton originally owned Berkshire Hathaway when it was a textille manufacturing company, Warren Buffett took over in 1962 . This is a very unique item for having specific info on fishing in that area in the 1930s-1970s, as well as having a small connection with Berhshire Hathaway.
