Set of 8 Imari Plates (1890)
Rare set of 8 oriental Imari Plates (plus 1 extra for just in case!), made in Japan in the 1890's. These deeply ornate hand-painted plates were made for export and graced the tables of many well to do households in Victorian America and Europe. The plates are in excellent shape for their age, with vibrant blues, reds, oranges and greens divided into a hexagonal design around a central floral design. These dinner plates have no chips, cracks and some do have light crazing. Come and get 'em or we can send 'em to you. email me or call Cindy at 715-532-0767

Bronze sculpture by Kent Ullberg- Lion Rock
This is an awesome, heavy bronze sculpture by Kent Ullberg of a lion on a rock all on a marble base. It is signed by the artist and is marked 5/20, that is, number 5 of 20 castings. The base is 9" x 4" and he stands 10" tall. On the bottom is a clear sticker that says, "Altermann & Morris Galleries Dallas,Texas, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Houston, Texas. According to the artist, the piece is called "Lion Rock" and was created shortly after his move from Botswana to the USA. Ullberg's first bronze in the United States was cast at Art Castings of Colorado. It was cast from a plaster cast of a wildebeest entitled, "Migration," which was one of 15 that he had brought to Denver from Africa. Migration, which was cast in July 1974 in an edition of 15, established Ullberg as a sculptor in America. "Lion Rock" would have been done in 1974 or 1975. About the artist: Kent Ullberg is a Swedish native now living in Texas and Colorado. He lived for seven years in Botswana, Africa and served the last four years there as curator at the Botswana National Museum and Gallery. He is recognized as one of the world's foremost wildlife sculptors. His pieces can be found in museums, many corporate headquarters and in the homes of celebrities.
