DVARAVATI GOLD SITTING BUDDHA Provenance: found at Aranyaprathet, Sakaew Province, Thailand, Pre-Angkor period, Style of Dvaravati, 7th - 8th century, Gold , Height 3.50 cm, Width 1.60 cm, Depth 1.30 cm, Description: The Buddha has a short mantle slung over the left shoulder, and he is sitting on a lotus throne, the sitting posture with both knees wide-opened, his feet placed solidly on the ground (in what is often called the European way of sitting). Those are characteristic of Dvaravati culture in 7th - 8th century.
