Item Detail

Name: Native American Navajo Wool Yei Rug Depression Era Antique
Category: Ethnic, Folk & Native American Art
Description: Georgeous Depression Era Navajo Wool Yei rug. Woven by a Master Weaver, I wish I knew her name, but no name came with it. For many years the Navajo weavers would not do this type of rug, because their religion forbid it, then in the 1930's a Navajo weaver decided to try it, and it was a success. During this period, bright colors, ice cream colors were popular, so the navajo weavers also delighted in these beautifull colors. I read that it took the traders several years to get them back to weaving with the earth colors, i.e. brown, black, etc. This rug has a very tight weave, no holes, no stains, in mint condition. The dancing corn maidens, with the bows and arrows, and the stalks of corn, all on that blue/grey background, makes for a georgeous wall hanging. I will include shipping in the USA, and will apply like amount to shipping outside the USA. Thanks for shopping in the Land of Enchantment!
