Order of Isabel la Católica, Commander neck badge in very good condition, and colorful ribbon, not in case of issue. It is authentic. The Order is a Spanish civil order granted in recognition of services that benefit the country. It is a bronze-edged red enamel Maltese cross with rays between the arms, on oval green enamel laurel wreath suspension; the face with a circular central medallion with the Pillars of Hercules bearing a ribbon inscribed ‘PLUS ULTRA’ (farther beyond) and a crowned sphere within a white enamel ring inscribed ‘A LA LEALDAD ACRISOLADA’ (For irreproachable loyalty); the reverse with a circular central bronze medallion bearing a sailing ship within a white enamel ring inscribed ‘POR ISABELLA LA CATOLICA’ (For Isabella the Catholic); the enamel is all there; on original ribbon. The Order was created for King Fernando VII on 24 March 1815 to reward those defending Spanish possessions in the Americas against frequent insurrections and to recognize loyalty, zeal, patriotism and bravery on behalf of the Crown in remote lands. Please, U.S. orders only, ships via U.S.P.S. from New York City, sales are final. PayPal is OK, but cashiers check drawn on J.P. Morgan Chase or other reputable bank is also acceptable.
