WWII, GERMAN SOLDIER'S BATTLEFIELD WATERCOLOR
- Item Category: Militaria & Weapons
Wehrmacht to Watercolorist! German World-War-Two-era authentic watercolor of 2nd battle for Smolensk, initialed and dated 1943(bottom right) by the soldier-artist. The watercolor is approximately 12-1/4" by 9-1/4" and on card stock or heavier gauge artist's paper (the artist's measurements are at the bottom and on the left of the painting). The 70 year old watercolor is very fine with only light aging, and should be matted and framed. There's something curious about a soldier on a battlefield who pauses to sketch or paint. The left image is from my Canon camera, and the image right is from an Epson scanner. The artists measurements, signature, name of work, and date are clear in the Canon image.
