I suspect that it is likely to be a Rosa. It has been restored twice, one time the guy knew what he was doing. In the right light you can see about sixty figures. It is a harbor scene and looks almost exactly like a Rosa painting in a book I have. It is a different size.

An art expert took a look at it and said it was unlikely to be a Rosa, but said he would not rule it out. Off the top of his head, he said it should be worth $20 to $30k. He also said he would not be surprised if it went for $50 to $80k if the right people bid on it.

But he stated that it might not go for his minimum and suggested a reserve of $18,000.

I want to have someone who really knows Rosa to look at it. Also, I and several members of my family saw the signature, very faintly many years ago. It is not now apparent. Do you still have an interest?

If so, email me. I am in a remote area for the next three to five days. Only my kids are home so I am at a geographical disadvantage.

Mr Monk, delighted to hear that you have a Rosa that has neither been bi or disected. I would be interested in hearing more about your painting and invite you to share your story with us here at Worthpoint. And , of course , any images of the painting would be wonderful. Thank you for your response. Christopher Kent

I have a complete painting by Rosa. It looks just like Port at Sunset. Any comments?
