Can anyone identify this figurine????

I have spent over a month trying to find anything I can on this figurine and have come up with nothing.

How tall or large is this item? Is it hollow or solid? Where did you get it, do you have any history on it?

On the bottom, are these things written on the bottom, or stamped in? What is the circle on the top? Does it say something or is it a design as well?

It is about 10" tall and is app 4 1/2" wide at the base. It is solid and the markings on the bottom appear to of been done by hand. I really can't make out the marking on the top but will take more pictures of it and post them. This piece was left to me by my grandmother. She was a local artist and collected all sorts of art when she traveled. Other than that I have no back ground on this piece.
