Mark on Japanese Satsuma Demitasse Cups and Saucers
Does anyone recognize the mark on this saucer? I have included a full shot as well. It is satsuma. The mark is close to the Koshida mark but the top character doesn't match. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I think it matches. Since they are done with a brush there is variation. The signature you have seems to have about 10-12 strokes, the Koshida mark seems to have about 12-13 strokes. I put my vote in for a Koshida mark done by someone who doesn't understand the radicals of the character.

As the mark is now posted it is oriented correctly. If the mark was turned over it would be upside down. The 'da' of 'Koshida' is the foursquare looking mark, at the bottom in the photo as posted, where it should be. If it was upside down, i.e., the foursquare looking mark was at the top, it wouldn't read as Koshida but as something like 'Takoshi' which would be incorrect.
