    Marvelous Japanese Netsuke

Look at this marvelous ivory Japanese netsuke I found this weekend at the Antiques at Elm Bank show in Wellesley, MA. I believe it is from the 1700's. The detail is exquisite.

You'll find most netsuke are 19th Century pieces, the bulk of them carved by Artisans who formerly worked for the Samurai class that fell from power in the 1870's.
