I am searching for information on this chair. It has been in my family for a long time and I am trying to find out about the style and value of it.

Your chair dates from the late 19th Century, and is of a type that could be found in the mail order catalogs of Sears-Roebuck and Montgomery-Ward Circa 1898. It's loosely based on the "Eastlake style" that first appeared in North America during the early 1870's, the style named after Charles Locke Eastlake, whose popular design book "Hints on Household Taste in Furniture, Upholstery and other Details", published in Britain in 1868 and later in the United States in 1872. As far as value goes, in the current market not much I'm afraid for these later examples. Currently at auction examples in need of some TLC often sell for less than $50.00.

Since the current value is limited, have you considered having it restored? It could be quite beautiful as well as functional, and become a real conversation piece for someone in your family.
