fairy lamp cleaning question
Bought a glass fairy lamp at a resale shop . 1 small chip, other than that it is in perfect condition.
It is frosted yellow pineapple 2 pc. like in this photo of one on this sites archives.
Vintage Glass Fairy Lamp Frosted Yellow Pineapple (06/05/2011)
Only issue, these shops use a heavy black marker that sometimes soak into the object making cleaning tough.
I have had success soaking these items in soapy for a few days. 50/50 soap/water. No harm on these items. But with the glow of the yellow in this fairy lamp, will a long soak affect its' brilliant color?
Need some opinions on this please,
Thank you,
Doug

True frosted glass is etched and the color goes right through the glass, Glass is highly inert and non porous, nothing should be able to penetrated the surface of it. Wiping it with alcohol should work to remove the marker, if it does not, try acetone (nail polish remover) .
