I just recently discovered silver shoe pin cushions
They have sold well at shows recently. I am particularly attached to this one. It is marked 800 silver.Last edited by Maggie Turnipseed; 05-22-2011 at 08:35 AM.

The pin cushion seems to have deteriorated with age. More than likely it was velvet and it could be replaced.

That's a beautiful item. I have a weakness for antique sewing implements myself. What are the dimensions?

It is packed up at the moment, but as I recall it is a little larger than most. I believe about 4 inches. Sewing implements are fascinating! There are so many delicate little tools they used. They must have been very treasured items.

I have a thing for pin cushions, which can certainly be classified as antique sewing implements. My dream is to find a late 1800's felt pincushion by the Steiff company of Germany.
