Help with what appears to be old bronze over spelter piece. Black Forest?
I was hoping someone could shed some light on what this piece is. I bought it from an estate sale. The lady thought it was from the late 18th or early 19th century. It appears to be decorated similarly to black forest. It seems to have once been framed in wood as there is a lip around the outside with three nail holes through the lip. It is approx 10 - 12 inches in diameter. It also has some weathering. Maybe it was above a door? I have no idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Do you see any marks or signatures on the front, side, or back?

Without a marking or provenance it's really hard to tell much about the origins of this piece or even it's age. based on similar pieces I have on file the frame for this on probably looked like this:
BRONZE & CARVED WOOD WALL PLAQUE FRENCH MAIDEN : Lot 1369
Most of these are Continental Victorian examples made as decorative wall art, but similar examples were made right into the 1930's. Most depict Classical imagery, Gods/Goddesses and creatures of myth, fables, history, some even of famous writers, composers or royalty.

Thank you for your help. I don't think I ever would have found that.
