Anyone know what this is?

I have this wooden tool, looks sort of like a melon baller but it has holes drilled in the "scoop" part. Any idea what this is?

You have a wood melon baller. It is a kitchen utensil . It can be used for butter ,melons or anything you want to scoop and make a round ball. I don't think it has a great deal of age. Still very functional and useful.
