Am trying to find out about a painting by J M Kavanagh entitled Blackbanks or Raheny on the Strand. Does the painting still exist?

It's hard to say, I've listings for 68 paintings by Joseph Malachy Kavanagh that sold in the last ten years or so, but none with that title. Despite being a a rather very prolific painter, his work is rare, a result of a fire during the Rebellion of 1916, when his when his studio and paintings were destroyed. As far as I know there is not a complete listing of his work published to find out this information. The only works that survived were those that were not inresidence or sold before the fire. I would suggest contacting the Royal Hibernian Academy, to which he was a member , possibly they might be able to help. RHA Academy Mission
