Movie poster artists: Charles Addams(10/7/08) A number of artists best known for their work in other fields also did at least some movie posters.
Today, Charles Addams is best known for creating the “Addams Family,” as familiar to us now through the two movies and the television show as through the dark humor of his weird New Yorker cartoons.

Ernest Montaut: A Collectible Automobilia Artist(10/1/08) Not too many years ago the automobile was considered the work of madmen, determined to corrupt the morals of our society, not to mention upset the enterprise of the blacksmith, the horse breeder and the harness maker. (They weren’t far from the truth.) It is difficult for the current generation to understand how the automobile caught the world’s imagination.

Poster Artists: Ralph Bakshi(9/23/08) Some Tolkien fans never forgave Ralph Bakshi for his animated version of “The Lord of the Rings,” at least until Peter Jackson did the trilogy right in live action (and plenty of computer generated imagery).

What We Collect(3/25/08) I’ve been collecting antique and vintage cartoons since I was a teenager in the 1940s – with the Good Lord’s help, I will reach 81 years at end of May!
In my collection I now have about a dozen examples of early cartoons from England and the United States, as well as some modern ones. (I also have a small collection of Persian and Indian miniatures from 19th century manuscripts.)

Political Cartoons of Clifford Berryman(2/4/08) Sometimes you’re remembered for only one thing even though you’ve done so much more. We know Clifford Berryman as having created a bear named for President Theodore Roosevelt. Yep, the teddy bear.
