I have a small silver knife that my father is said to have got from his grandfather. My father would have been 90 at this point in time. The knife says St. Augustine , FL on it and has pictures of possibly the fort there and a face on other side with a lighthouse and palm tree and inside on the base of the blade which is a push-button blade it says Walden. On outside of knife it says sterling.

Pocket knives are collectible from boy scout days to the pen knife on your key chain. The Swiss Army Knife is currently the most popular version with multiple knives, scissors, a nail file, and a corkscrew as standard issue. Vintage or antique knives can make for a beautiful collection with mother of pearl or wooden handles, brass liners, fancy springs and various designs.

A Flick of Cold Steel… (4/30/08)
My earliest recollection of wanting to own a switchblade came after seeing the film The Outsiders, where the character Johnny Cade (played by Ralph Macchio) uses a lever-lock switchblade to defend himself during a fight scene with rival “Socs” (short for socialites). The camera cuts to Johnny Cade on ground, then zooms to his hand as he discretely draws his blade from his jean pocket.

Collectible Knives (4/17/08)
Mumblepeg was a game played with a knife that I played when I was a little boy of nine or ten. Knives in hand, two boys faced each other and took turns throwing the knife, aiming to land its point in the ground close to his opponent’s foot. The opponent would then move his foot to touch the knife. The object was to stretch your friend until he couldn’t reach the knife.

SA Dagger Imposter (2/1/08)
Curiously enough, this SA dagger came into the shop recently and only after careful examination after the fact revealed that in fact this official looking SA dagger was an imposter.
Here’s how I can now tell:
- the color of the handle and the scabbard should be brown, not black,
- the handle itself could be a reproduction and the scabbard changed to reflect the reproduction,
