This Week in Geek is a weekly blog about new comics written by WorthPoint Comic book Worthologist Matt Baum. Every Wednesday, Matt takes a look at the week’s new comics from a collector’s point-of-view and discusses which books may be hard to find in the near future and why. Make sure to click on the hot links for previews and more information on the comics, characters, story-lines and creators discussed here. Also, feel free to post your comments in the new “comments” section below.

Before we get started let’s talk housekeeping. I’ve received a few e-mails detailing some problems with finding older “This Week” blogs, problems with posting comments and even some problems with getting in contact with me. I assure you I’ve read all your emails and forwarded them to the proper geeks and have been reassured by those same geeks that problems are in the process of being solved. There’s a lot of changes coming down the WorthPoint-pipe real soon here (no I’m not being replaced, as far as I know anyway) and they are all for the benefit of you guys. Stick around and you’ll see.

With that out of the way let’s talk comics. The yearly comic sales numbers have been released and it seems, once again, Marvel stomped DC in comic sales while DC whupped Marvel in Trade-Paper-Back sales. All in all not very surprising as Marvel’s “Secret Invasion” seems to have been a rollicking sales and critical success. The fans spoke with their wallets and bought a lot more Marvel Comics than DC. The numbers don’t lie. However, does sales success translate to collectivity? The short answer is maybe. For more on this question check out my other blog, “The Comic Speculator” where I’ll be taking a look at Marvel’s last big crossover event, “Civil War,” to try and predict where prices on the “Secret Invasion” comics will sit after the dust settles. Look for that blog later this week.

For now let’s take a look at this week’s new comics. Here’s my pile if comics for the week of Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009. As always, I welcome your criticism, praise or threats of bodily harm based on what I am or am not reading/collecting. You may have noticed a new section below where you can respond to this article, it’s the perfect place to agree with or lash out at me for all to see! (No rhyme intended) For a complete list of this week’s new comics click here. To find a comic shop near you click here.

Action Comics #873
B.P.R.D.: The Black Goddess #1 of 5
Captain Britain and MI: 13 #9
DMZ #38
Faces of Evil: Prometheus
Final Crisis #6 of 7
Final Crisis: Superman Beyond #2 of 2
Green Lantern Corps #32
Nightwing #152
Punisher: War Zone #5 of 6
X-Infernus #2 of 4

Now let’s talk speculation. As you may or may not know, the purpose of this blog is to arm the comic nerd with the information he or she needs to make an informed and quality new comic purchase every week. While they might not be worth piles of money, these issues may be pretty hard to find in the near future.

Amazing Spiderman #583, Obama Variant

Amazing Spiderman #583, Obama Variant; Marvel Comics; Written by Mark Waid; Art by Barry Kitson, Back up story Written by Zeb Wells; Art by Todd Nauck; 32 pages $3.99.

Solicitation: YOU ASKED FOR IT, YOU GOT IT! PETER PARKER ON A DATE! After the revelations of “Mind on Fire,” love is in the air for more than one member of the cast, and Pete finally gets some time out with the ladies (and who better to bring it to you than two men who both had dates as recently as 1987!?!). Amidst the romance, though, forces are gathering that will spell trouble for Peter in the months to come. And, to celebrate the upcoming inauguration of Barack Obama, Marvel is proud to present an all-new story teaming up one of the world’s most recognizable political figures with the world’s greatest super hero, as President-Elect Obama joins Spider-Man in “Spidey Meets the President!”

Why it’ll go fast: As you may recall, a few months ago Batman may or may not have died in the pages of Batman as part of the “RIP” storyline. This issue prompted me to predict a huge sellout on the basis that DC would drop a press release to media sources everywhere, hoping the news papers and networks would pick up on the story and send people everywhere to their nearest comic shop to see how Batman dies. Well it didn’t happen. Whether DC dropped the ball on this one or no one cared, we may never know. Marvel on the other hand seems to have their PR dept in marching order and already this week CNN, NPR, and USA TODAY have run stories about Spidey meeting Obama in the pages of Amazing Spidey #583. Already pre-sales for the issue on eBay are going for $30-$50 and with the announcement of a second printing of the Variant cover it would seem the entire first print-run is spoken for before hitting the stands. Retailers had to order more of the regular cover of #583 than they did of Amazing Spidey #575 to be eligible to order the Obama variant. If they surpassed their order of #575, then the sky’s the limit; order as many Obama Variant as you want, although there’s no guarantee you’ll receive them all. The distribution of the variants seems to be a mystery, and the rumor of a10,000- to 20,000-print-run will make this comic extremely hot and hard to find. I wonder how a Sarah Palin variant would sell?

Faces of Evil: Prometheus

Faces of Evil: Prometheus; DC; Written by Sterling Gates; Art by Federico Dallocchio; Cover by Mauro Cascioli; 32 pages; $2.99.

Solicitation: It’s an all-new prelude to the upcoming, all-new JUSTICE LEAGUE #1! Prometheus once defeated the Justice League single-handedly, and with his latest lethal crime spree, he’s moved to the top of the heroes’ Most Wanted list. But what grave crimes has he committed, and what will he do to prevent capture? Learn the real face of evil that is Prometheus!

Why it’ll go fast: I love the current Faces of Evil event, but sadly, am still awaiting last week’s FOE: Grundy issue due to a shipping error at Diamond Comics. I’m still trying to get a solid answer on who was affected by this shipping error and will let you know as soon as I do. That aside, FOE takes a look at the villains that will be making problems fot the DC heroes in the coming year and Prometheus is one of my favorites. Writer Sterling Gates has been doing great work on the current Supergirl run and I’m excited to see how he brings Prometheus back to the DC villains “A-list.” While the numbers for orders on the first FOE issue aren’t available yet, I’m guessing this issue will be ordered much lower than the Geoff Johns Grundy issue based on the fact that, though he’s great, Sterling Gates isn’t a huge name yet.

X-Infernus #2 of 4

X-Infernus #2 of 4; Marvel Comics; Written by C.B. Cebulski; Art by Giuseppe Camuncol; Cover by David Finch; 32 pages; $3.99.

Solicitation: Darkchilde comes calling to the X-Men’s doorstep—and she’s not leaving without her Soulsword. The next pulse-pounding issue by C.B. Cebulski (LONERS, Drain) and Giuseppe Cammuncoli (MS. MARVEL, Intimates) is here and it’s shaking up the X-Men in a big way.

Why it’ll go fast: X-Men mini-series haven’t had the best reputation for sales or quality for quite a while now, however, X-Infernus seems to be the exception to the rule. Issue one was GREAT! I love the character of Magik, Illyana Rasputin (Colossus’ little sister), and can’t wait for her to return to the Marvel U (sans goat legs). I’m not the only nerd that loved this story, fans bought issue #1 by the fistful causing an instant sell-out at the printer and a second and third printing. If you can find issue X-Infernus #1 pick it up along with issue #2. It’s good fun for fans of both the now classic New Mutants, and the more recent New X Men Academy X.

The Indy book of the Week pick will return next week. For this week, I’m introducing yet another new section to stir up some discussion. It’s called the The Nerdy Question of the Week, where I’ll pose a question to you the reader and hopefully you’ll respond. Responses can come via email or using the “comments” section at below. This weeks question comes from a discussion a friend of mine and I had this past weekend.

If you had to reduce your pile to one comic a month (just one title) what comic would it be?

Post you answers below or feel free to e-mail them to me.

Until next week, keep the questions coming. Also, check out my other blog The Comic Speculator, where I discuss new and classic yet still affordable back-issue comics. If you have any questions about these books or anything else in the comic book world feel free to contact me or post your question in the Comic Book community forum. Want to know what your comics are worth? Join WorthPoint for free and post your titles in the “Ask A Question” section. Remember to post the title, issue number and cover price.

Don’t freak out but X-mas is next week. I know, it snuck up on me, too. As of today, if you are still shopping on-line you’re cutting it very close. It may be time to consider a more drastic course of action; actually going to a store. If you have a comic nerd to shop for, then your local comic shop is loaded with goodies (ah, but which one’s to buy). Imagine if you had a friend who collected flags, you know who you are, and you went to the local flag shop to pick him up something nice. You’d be lost and chances are your local flag shop owner wouldn’t know what your flag-nerd collects. If you’re wondering about my metaphor here I should tell you that I’m making fun of our WorthPoint flag guy. It’s an inside joke to see if he’s reading this blog. Anyway, I suggest dropping some hints to your local comic purveyor so that when the loved ones do come-a-shopping, the store owner looks like a hero and you get a great present. Is it back-handed and a little shady? Maybe, but everyone is happy in the end. Now isn’t that what Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winterveil is all about.

Speaking of great gifts for nerds-and I hope you’re reading this, mom-Marvel has collected the complete Secret Wars event of the 1980′s in one giant omnibus edition, assembling Secret Wars #1-12 plus Thor #383, She Hulk (2004) #10, and What If? (1989) #4 and #114. The Secret Wars was the first major crossover event that made me branch out from my X-Men comics and set the standard for future crossovers. Nothing better defines Marvel Comics in the 1980s.

Can’t find that perfect gift for the filthy-mouthed, overly-sarcastic, dark-humor-craving-comic- nerd in your life? Search no more; the new Definitive Edition of Garth Ennis’ The Boys collects the meanest, nastiest, most controversial and perversely-funny superhero comics ever written. Ennis is famous for work on DC’s Preacher and Hellblazer and Marvel’s Punisher, but has never been allowed complete free reign with his stories until now. Not for the faint of heart or easily offended, The Boys examines the absurdly dark side of superheroes with deep character flaws. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Here’s my pile if comics for the week of Wednesday, Dec. 17. As always, I welcome your criticism, praise or threats of bodily harm based on what I am or am not reading/collecting. For a complete list of this week’s new comics click here. To find a comic shop near you, click here.

Avengers: The Initiative #19

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #20

Conan The Cimmerian #6

Dark Reign: New Nation

DCU Holiday Special: 2008

Ghost Rider #30

The Invincible Iron Man #8

Madman Atomic Comics! #12

Mighty Avengers #20

Punisher: War Zone #2 of 6

Robin #181

Supergirl #36

Thor: God-Sized

Thunderbolts #127

Uncanny X-Men #505

X-Factor #38

X-Men: Kingbreaker #1 of 4: Kingbreaker

Now let’s talk speculation. As you may or may not know, the purpose of this part of This Week in Geek is to arm the comic nerd with the information he or she needs to make an informed and quality new comic purchase every week. While they might not be worth piles of money, these issues may be pretty hard to find in the near future.

Supergirl #36; DC; Written by Sterling Gates; Art by Jamal Igle; Cover by Josh Middelton, variant by Chris Sprouse; $2.99.

Why it’ll go fast: In October, Supergirl #34 came in at 75 on the top 300 selling comics for that month. November’s Supergirl #35 jumped to number 34. What does this huge spike in sales mean? Fans are sold on the new creative team of Gates and Igle, and tying Supergirl’s story directly into the “New Krypton” storyline running through the Superman books was a great idea. I, myself, have never cared about Supergirl as a character before but now find myself calling issue #36 my pick of the week at my local comic shop. Yeah, I’m pretty important. If you’re thinking of jumping on to the “New Krypton” storyline issues of Supergirl, #34 and #35 are still available but going fast.

Thunderbolts #127; Marvel Comics; Written by Andy Diggle; Art by Roberto De La Torre, Cover by Francisco Mattina; $2.99.

Why it’ll go fast: Another book spiking in sales, moving from 64 in October to 57 in November on the top 300 actual comic sales list, is Andy Diggle’s Thunderbolts. After the events of Secret Invasion #8, Thunderbolts leader, Norman Osborne, is a national hero. For those of you who didn’t know, Norman Osborne is Spider-Man’s nemesis the Green Goblin and a millionaire business owner who’s spun his tech-business, Oscorp, into a full fledged political career. Osborne is now not only running the Thunderbolts, a group of “reformed” super villains working for the US government, but has been offered a promotion after being branded the hero of the failed Skrull Invasion. Tony Stark, Iron Man, is out and Norman Osborne is running things now. Just one problem, he’s still evil and totally insane. The new “Dark Reign” storyline looks like it’s going to be just as much fun as “Secret Invasion” and it starts here in Thunderbolts #127.

X-Men: Kingbreaker #1; Marvel Comics; Written by Christopher Yost; Art by Dustin Weaver; Cover by Brandon Peterson; $3.99.

Why it’ll go fast: Fans of the Marvel “Annihilation” story-lines, which reinvigorated the Marvel space heroes and reinvented Marvel Sci-Fi, are excited for the third installment in the series “War of Kings”. Well, it all begins here in Kingbreaker #1. Scott Summers’ Cyclops, leader of the X-Men, power mad brother, Vulcan has seized power of the alien Shiar Empire and plans to make war on the entire universe. While “Dark Reign” is happening on Earth, the “War of Kings” is beginning in outer space. I’m guessing that retailers will order lighter on this series based on the disappointing sales of the previous X-Men: Emperor Vulcan mini-series that established Vulcan as a universal threat. Kingbreaker looks to tie the story in with the rest of the Marvel Universe, is written by fan-favorite Chris Yost (X-force, New X-Men: Mutant Academy) and leads directly into War of Kings. All of which adds up to a quick sellout of issue #1.

Indy Comic of the Week:

Beanworld Holiday Special; Dark Horse, Written and drawn by Larry Marder; $3.50.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never read Beanworld, but as I’m a sucker for holiday comic specials, and most that I’ve picked up so far this year don’t look too promising, I’ll be picking up the Beanworld Holiday special to see what the buzz is all about. Here’s the solicitation:

“The first new Beanworld story in print in over a decade, the Beanworld Holiday Special is the perfect introduction to Larry Marder’s inimitable creation!

As enjoyable for children as it is enlightening for adults, Beanworld is a grand adventure that explores social dynamics, culture creation, and ecological networks-all in great fun! Take a tour of this magical world, from Proffy’s Fix-It Shop to a Fabulous Look-See Show, in this issue that introduces toys to the baby Cuties and plunges readers into one of the most original and brilliant comic-book universes ever created!

You’ve never seen anything like it–unless you’re a longtime fan of Marder’s, in which case you’ll be thrilled by the return of this wonderful and peculiar comic-book experience!”

“Larry Marder’s Beanworld is a vegetarian update on Krazy Kat with a world and lingo unto itself.”
-Smithsonian Studies of American Art

“One doesn’t read Beanworld at all, one lives it. Beanworld draws you into its world and plays out in your mind. This is a rare feat in any medium, and a treasure in comics.”
-Feature Magazine

That’s all for this week true believers. I truly hope this blog has inspired you to pick up at least one comic book you may have passed on otherwise. If not, email me and tell me what I’m doing wrong. I love criticism, both creative and purely insulting. Also, the end of the year is almost upon us and I want to know your favorite comic of 2008. It can be a single issue, new series, or one-shot. Email me and let me know. Until next week, keep the questions coming. Also, check out my other blog The Comic Speculator, where I discuss classic yet still affordable back-issue comics. If you have any questions about these books or anything else in the comic book world feel free to contact me or post your question in the Comic Book community forum.
Welcome to The Comic Speculator 2.0. From now on you’ll be able to click on the hyperlinks I’ve embedded in this article to learn more about the subjects I discuss here. Let me know what you guys think of the new format.

X’fans everywhere are in mourning this week after the loss of a beloved X-Man, or X-Woman… Whatever, my point is (SPOILER ALERT!!!) ”Kitty Pryde”, also known as the X-Men’s Shadowcat, seems to have died this week in the pages of Giant Size Astonishing X-Men #1. I say “seems to have died” because, like all great comic deaths, writer ”Joss Whedon” , of Buffy The Vampire Slayer fame, seems to have left a loop hole just in case another writer wants to bring her back. No comic character stays dead for long but for the time being The Comic Speculator will mourn Kitty’s loss by taking a look at her most collectible comic appearances.

If the stars align and the big brains at Worthpoint can figure out how to host an Excel file I may even post a Kitty Pryde checklist. Yes I’m calling you out Worthpoint-programmer guy.
Whatchu got!

Kitty Pryde was created by ”Chris Claremont” and ”John Byrne” first appeared as a new student enrolled at the ”Xaiver Institute for Gifted Youngsters” in Uncanny X-Men 129 ($80.00 in Near Mint condition). Kitty was the youngest mutant to be invited to the institute and would be the youngest to join the team in Uncanny X-Men #139 ($55.00 in Near Mint) under the codename Sprite.

Uncanny X-men 142, Marvel 1981 ($75 in Near Mint) was the first issue to carry the “Uncanny” title and has perhaps one of the most memorable covers in the series. See above. In the story, now known as part of the ”Days of the Future Past” storyline, robot ”Sentinels” commanded by the anti-mutant Senator Robert Kelley kill several of the X-Men. Kitty, then called “Sprite”, saves the Senator from an assignation attempt by a mutant terrorist named ”Destiny” showing him that mutants can be humane as well as human. Deep stuff, I know.

Uncanny X-Men #143, Marvel 1981 ($55.00 in Near Mint) was John Byrne’s last issue and told the story of Kitty home alone on Christmas night in the X-Mansion. Of course a demon shows up and she fights it off but it wouldn’t have been be a memorable issue if she just watched It’s A Wonderful Life and cried. This issue was also one of my favorite X-covers.

Uncanny X-Men #151-152, Marvel 1981 ($10.00 in Near Mint). Kitty’s parents make her leave the X-Men to join the ”Massachusetts Academy” run by the evil White Queen ”Emma Frost” and then is returned after Emma’s evil plot is exposed.

Uncanny X-Men #166, Marvel, 1983 ($9.00 in Near Mint). 1st appearance of Kitty’s pet alien/dragon ”Lockheed”. Second issue of artist ”Paul Smith”’s Uncanny run.

Kitty Pryde and Wolverine 1-6, Marvel, 1986 ($5.00 in Near Mint). Kitty goes to Japan in search of her Father who’s been kidnapped by Yakuza. During her search Kitty is captured, brainwashed and then turned into a ninja assassin by ”Ogun”, who was also ”Wolverine”’s mentor.

Excalibur vol. 1 #1, Marvel, 1988 ($5.00 in Near Mint). Kitty joins the British X-team ”Excalibur”. This was back when series penciler ”Alan Davis” was drawing my favorite version of ”Nightcrawler”.

Astonishing X-Men vol. 3 #1, Marvel 2004, Cassiday Varaint Cover ($10.00 in Near Mint. Astonishing was the creation of writer Joss Whedon and artist ”John Cassiday”. The Cassiday variant cover of issue #1 has been valued as high as $50.00.

All in all I would say that Kitty had a pretty good run and, as stated earlier, it’s only a matter of time before she returns to the pages of an X-book. What did you think of Kitty’s death? Make sure to post your response below, there’s plenty to talk about. For more on Astonishing X-Men and other new comics check out my other blog, ”This Week in Geek” where I discuss the new comics of the week that could be tomorrow’s collectibles. If you have any questions about these books or anything else in the comic book world feel free to contact me or post your question in the Comic Book community forum.
Ok it’s not Wednesday, it’s Friday but, better late than never. This week was a rather small one for new books, I found myself bringing home only six. Shameful I know but I until I can convince the Worthpoint overlords to buy my books for me on a weekly basis, my own pocket book will have to do all the heavy lifting. Anyway lets get to it:

X-Men 207, Marvel Comics, by Mike Carey and Chris Bachalo
This is it , the issue that changes everything, the end of the Messiah Complex storyline and the death of a Major X-character. A death that honestly caught me by surprise. After this everything changes; Wolverine becomes the team leader of the new X-Force book, X-Men becomes X-men Legacy and New X-Men Academy X becomes (the much shorter and aptly titled) Young X-men. This is a must have for any X-fan.

Iron Man 25, Marvel Comics, by Daniel Knauf and Rob De La Torre
It’s the return of Tony Stark’s original nemesis, the Mandarin! This storyline has been building for about six issues now and looks to conclude next month. Subsequently Iron Man has been investigating a series of superhuman murders in my hometown, Omaha NE, which is fun but it’s pretty obvious the creative team didn’t come to visit before setting the Mandarin’s base of operations in Nebraska. I do love De La Torre’s art however and seeing Tony in the old armor is always fun. This book is worth the price of admission for the cover painting alone.

Young Avengers Presents Patriot, 1 of 6, Marvel Comics by Ed Brubaker and Paco Medina

Young Avengers, one of my favorite new series centering on a younger generation that had been influenced by the original Avengers, isn’t making its triumphant return yet. But this six issue series focusing on each member of the team should hold us over until O.C. scribe Alan Heinberg brings his fan-favorite series back to a monthly schedule. Didn’t the O.C. get canceled? What is Heinberg doing anyway? After checking the Internet Movie Database it seems he’s writing and Co-executive producing some show called Grey’s Anatomy. Good luck with that. When you’re done doggy paddling in the baby pool that is network television maybe you can come make some serious money, with the big fish on the comic book industry. But I digress, Ed Brubaker writes great comics and this one is no exception. Patriot meets Bucky, who may be wearing the Captain America costume very soon.

That’s it for this week. I plan to use my extra time this week by seeing the new Rambo movie and emailing Alan Heinberg to try and figure out why people think Patrick Dempsy is sexy. He has a voice like a little girl for crying out loud!

So until Mischa Barton gets drunk and crashes a Shield Hovercar, make mine Marvel!

It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for the first “New Comic Book Day” edition of Geek Speak! Every Wednesday I’ll be ranting and raving about the new books and giving you an idea on what us geeks are reading/collecting. So, enough talk, lets get down to the meat of the matter! It’s new comic day!

If you’re a comic nerd like myself then every Wednesday is special! Of course I’m talking about new comic day, the day that comic nerds every where flock to their neighborhood comic shop to carefully pluck the new books from the shelves like nerdy citrus farmers handling delicate fruits. I’m not afraid to admit that I’m a bit of a condition freak and inspect each book I buy for printing flaws or shipping damage. After all, unless you’re collecting garbage, your books should be as close to mint as possible.

Now, if your not a complete addict like me you may be saying to yourself, “Matt, I have a life, friends, maybe even a wife or girlfriend, and neither the time or the wherewithal to wade through the garbage to get to the good stuff. What should I be reading?”. Well my friend, that’s why I’m here. Here’s a short list of this week’s books that I‘m excited about.

Robin #170, DC Comics, by Chuck Dixon and Chris Batista:
Batman legend Chuck Dixon makes his return to the core Bat-family books with this issue of Robin. Robin #170 is the perfect chance for the casual reader to jump on to a new storyline by and all-star writer artist duo. Dixon was one of the quintessential Bat-writers of the 90’s and is also currently writing Batman and the Outsiders.

New X-Men #46, Marvel Comics, by Kyle Yost and Humberto Ramos:
The Messiah Complex storyline continues in this issue of New X-Men. With rumors of more X-Character’s deaths before this crossover ends the entire Messiah Complex storyline has been heating up and now is a great time to jump into the X-men while these issues are still affordable. Messiah Complex has been good fun in the vein of the classic X-men-crossover of the 1980‘s and marks a great jumping on point for readers/collectors new and old. For a complete Messiah Complex checklist check out my previous blog entry.

The Umbrella Academy #5 of 6, Dark Horse Comics, By Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba:
When I heard this book was written by the lead singer of the pseudo-goth-pop-punk band My Chemical Romance I was hesitant, to say the least, to jump on board. Man was I wrong. The Umbrella Academy is so much fun it upsets me that this is only a six issue limited series. Umbrella Academy is campy yet gritty science-fiction superhero action at its best with stunning art by one of my favorite new artists, Gabriel Ba. Although the #0 issue has become difficult to find it is still available on eBay for around $5-$10 and, if this series continues, will not only hold it’s value but probably sky-rocket in price. I encourage you to take the time and find issues 0-4, you’ll thank me later To sum up, can’t stand Way’s music but love his comics. Go figure?

Of course this is just a very short list of this weeks new books and there’s plenty of other great stuff on the shelves to read. Now get to your friendly neighborhood comic shop and start collecting!

Until next time true believers!

Since the events of M-Day, the mutant population has been reduced to a mere handful and no new mutants have been born. But all that changes in the highly-anticipated, extra-sized X-MEN: MESSIAH COMPLEX ONE-SHOT, from Eisner and Harvey winning “Best Writer” Ed Brubaker and superstar artist Marc Silvestri, when the X-Men discover a new mutant has arrived. But this cause for celebration is tainted by the early arrival of the Marauders and the Purifiers—and with those two groups involved, the X-Men may not find this mutant! But if they do, will this new player prove to be their savior or a harbinger of doom for mutantkind? A perfect jumping on point for new readers, this special one-shot sets the stage for the jaw-dropping changes to come! This issue features NINE extra pages of hints of what’s to come, drawn by some of the hottest talents today while red-hot artists David Finch and Silvestri provide two stunning covers, with the latter available as the X-Men: Messiah CompleX Poster.

This October, the hunt is on…and the prize is the fate of mutantkind! You can’t afford to miss what will become known as the most crucial chapter in mutant history and it all begins in X-MEN: MESSIAH COMPLEX ONE-SHOT!
