Nearly 100 Matisse Works Spotlighted in Christie’s First Online-Only Fine Art Sale

A 1925 lithograph of Henri Matisse’s “Odalisqué à la Coupe de Fruits” is among 96 items by the artist that will be up for sale in an online-only auction to be held on Nov. 29 at Christie’s. It carries a presale estimate of $30,000 to $50,000.”

NEW YORK – New collectors and established connoisseurs alike will all find something to bid on as Christie’s will be hosting the sale of Multiples by Matisse from the Matisse Family Collections, an online-only sale launching on Nov. 19 and ending Dec. 4.

The sale features 96 lots that present a fascinating cross-section of the Henri Matisse’s graphic works, and includes drypoints and etchings from his early career through to the large-scale lithographs and aquatints of his later years. All lots come directly from the artist’s family—an impeccable provenance.

Prospective buyers will not only find a range of techniques, styles and subjects, but a wide range of price points, from $50,000 down to the relatively bargain price of $1,000, ideal for those beginning their collection or looking for the perfect holiday gift.

The e-catalogue, packed with information on the artist, is available online now. The sale itself will go live on Nov. 19. Fans of Matisse from all over the globe will be able to track and bid on their favorite lots with the click of a mouse. The online auction is expected to realize in excess of $800,000.
