Dramatic Paquime traders pot...sgraffito artistry

Humberto Guillen Rodriguez is mentored by the famous Mata Ortiz potter, Manuel (Manolo) Rodriguez. This pot pays tribute to the Paquime traders who were at the Paquime village forty miles North of Mata Ortiz. The village was the East-West, North-South trading center and extensive trading took place and a visit to the ruins is highly recommended to visitors to the area. Humberto's carving on the clay is called "sgraffito" and he is a top artist of this type of pot. This is a museum quality work of art and would retail for $1000 in a top US gallery.
