+HECTOR GALLEGOS,JR Musm Qlty Mata Ortiz Pottery + Hector Jr.'s "Enchanted Forest" hummingbird pot.. One of the pleasures of being a Mata Ortiz trader is discovering new and up-and-coming talent. I was the first to present the work of Hector Gallegos, Jr. to eBay collectors. Hector's father is the famous Mata Ortiz potter Hector, Sr. and his mother is a top potter, too...Graciela Gallegos. Hector is married to internationally famous potter Laura Bugarini and, in my opinion, he is one of the best kept secrets among emerging second generation potters in the village. This pot is a visual panorama of forest scenes with hummingbirds. Hector uses a needle to get "needlepoint" graphics and results are stunning. This museum quality pot is 6 1/2" high, 20 1/4" in circumference, with an opening of 1 1/2". My best efforts at digital photography did not really bring out the incredible detail of this magnificent piece and please excuse the flash glare in the center of the photos...it is perfect. It is signed and you could reasonably expect to pay $1000+ in a top US gallery for this fantastic pot.
