This is a splendid Tsuba for a Wakizashi made in Edo period. The design is of a dragon diving in sand. On a high-quality shakudo ground, the dragon is carved in Takabori and brass inlay was applied. This piece is highly detailed and even the scales of the dragon are finished beautifully. This Tsuba is probably not for ordinary use but for special formal use when visiting a castle.
