ITEM DESCRIPTIONThis is a wonderful, old, original one pound grain scale by Fairbanks. It is in very good to excellent condition, with some of the original lacquer and Fairbanks decal remaining on the bucket. T are no dents, bangs or distress to the brass, suggestive of being misused. The two steel hanging fittings have some minor, age-related rust pitting. Matching #40's are stamped on the weight and scale bar and a #2 is stamped on the bucket bail near the hook. (A friend suggests that the bucket possibly may not be the original, as it maybe should also have a #40 stamped onto the bail as well?) Based on using the weight and the scale bar marking in pounds and ounces, it appears that the bucket may be about one ounce heavier than needed for a perfect balance. Exterior bucket dimensions are: 3-1/2" diam x 3-7/8" high and the scale bar is 10-1/2" L x 7/8" W. The name Fairbanks is stamped into the tail part of the bar and also as a decal on the bucket. The number 073 is also stamped into the top of the bar-tail and my friend feels that this is likely an inventory number by the owner. Please see the attached photos for item details and condition.
