Antique set of jewels I inherited from my Grandmother. My grandfather was in the military and they traveled all over the world and collected beautiful furniture and jewelery as they traveled. is one of the most stunning pieces from her collection.
APPRAISAL WILL BE INCLUDED WITH PURCHASE! I had these pieces appraised, so you would be sure of what you are getting. The appraisal was done by R. F. Marcozzi Jewelers, by a G.I.A. certified gemologist. NOTE: THESE ARE REPLACEMENT VALUES, NOT RETAIL! Retail would be even more! These appraisals also are based on the values of the gems and gold alone, not the history or uniqueness of the pieces! The appraisal amounts are the price of the gold as scrap and the stones based on simple carat weight, not for the quality of the created pieces. I was told that the jewels were Smoky Topaz. I'm not sure if that is a type of quartz?? But I have listed them exactly as the appraisal states. ALSO the jeweler stated that this item would sell for $7500+ through an antique dealer/auction. The appraisal was completed on August 20, 2008 BEFORE the price of gold skyrocketed, which means as of today, it would be worth significantly MORE because the main value of these pieces is in the significant gold weight. CHRISTMAS IS COMING! Imagine the look in her eyes if she opened a box to find THIS SET!!!! NECKLACE/ PENDANT APPRAISAL AMOUNT: $2,495.00 (replacement value) "Ladie's 14k yellow gold smoky quartz hand made pendant consisting of: One 50X38 MM Emerald Cut smoky quartz center stone. The mounting is custom made tension set 14 kt yellow gold and attached to a 20" 14 kt yellow gold 3MM rope chain." This piece is VERY bold and eye catching. Take a look in the picture, the stone covers almost the entire palm of my hand. It is roughly thesize of a doorknob! The jeweler told me it was more than 200 carats. It is very, very difficult to find stones of this size anymore. Notice the hand-made custom setting. The gold weight on this alone is remarkable. The backing is a SOLID thick strap of 14k gold. The smoky quartzes in these pieces are a lovely amber-brandy color that catch and reflect the light from the expert cuts. They are all HAND MADE! This is a quality of craftsmanship that is lacking in less expensive, commercial pieces. In some of the pictures, the stone appears dark, because the lighting wasn't the best, but in the pictures in the sunlight you can see the stone's true colors and the quality of the emerald cuts. RING APPRAISAL AMOUNT: $495.00 (replacement value) "Ladie's 14 kt yellow gold smoky quartz ring consisting of: One 14X10 MM Emerald Cut smoky quarts stone." This ring is a beautiful matched piece and compliments the necklace, mirroring its shape. This is another quality piece, with a heavy gold setting. This is NOT like the new, light, inexpensive rings you see sold on ebay. It is large enough to catch th eye and yet not overly large as to be uncomfortable to wear. Look at the fine detail work in the heavy gold setting. EARRINGS APPRAISAL AMOUNT: $445.00 (replacement value) "Ladie's 14 kt yellow gold smoky quartz dangle earrings consisting of: 10X8mm Emerald Cut smoky quartz stone in each earring." Again, these pieces were created to compliment the necklace and ring. They mirror the emerald shape of the other pieces, and their 2-strand mounting mimics the 2 strand mounting of the necklace. Again, the solid gold backings are intricately detailed, as shown in the pictures. This set would make BEAUTIFUL wedding jewelery set! Or stun someone with a one-of-a kind gift. TERRIBLY unique and hard to find jewelery of this age and size that is still beautiful and relevant in today's fashions. These are high quality pieces, relics of a decadent, long gone era. Now, you can own a piece of history. I know that my grandmother purchased these pieces in the 50's-60's, but she loved antiques and it would not surprise me to find that these were actually old Victorian pieces. However, obviously, I don'...
