American Eagle art bars are a GREAT WAY TO START BUYING SILVER!!! You gotta have this bar! This 10 ounce stamped art bar from the United States Government Assay Silver stockpile was made by Continental Coin in the early 1980's to combat the artificially high price of silver. You can't buy any more American than this! This bar has the high ridge around the edge. I received this bar in the original protecter. It's in great shape! The back states "Minted from U.S. Strategic Stockpile Silver formally stored at U.S. Assay Office San Francisco CC 1981". These Assay art bars are a great way to start your collection and this bar is in GREAT SHAPE IN ITS ORIGINAL PROTECTOR. These bars are getting harder to find; you will get this bar in these pictures! As Am eri can as apple pie! In the late 1970's the Hunt brothers decided to buy up all the silver they could get their hands on and drive up the price of silver. Watching the price of silver jump from $4 something to $50 something the U.S. Government took action to drive them out of their monopoly by minting tons of silver bars. This plan worked, but not before the Hunt brothers made enough money to buy a tomato farm in Ohio and experiment with tomato sauces and, well, you know the rest.
