Baltic amber is a fossil resin derived from extinct coniferous trees, Pinites succinifer and/or Pseudolarix sp. It was formed during the Eocene and Early Oligocene, 35-40 million years ago. Insects, other animals, and plant material, trapped in the resin, became perfectly preserved in amber, and represent rare species, most of which are extinct.
Amber specimens present a tremendous interest for scientific study, and, thanks to their natural beauty, have a great aesthetic value. It is hard to find another gem stone which possesses as much warmth, light, and mystery as amber. Its beautiful appearance attracted man since the ancient times, and amber jewelry is known from many thousand years ago.
The low thermal conductivity of amber makes it always warm to the touch.
Payments, shipping, and returns
I accept All items are shipped after the payment has cleared. Standard shipping (First Class US Mail) is $5 ($6 international). Priority and Express mail are extra. If several items are combined in one shipment, add $1 for each additional item. Domestic shipping insurance is optional. International insurance is not offered. If payment is not received within 7 days after the end of the auction, I reserve the right to resell the item(s). Returns are accepted within 7 days after the receipt of the item(s) for a full refund of the purchase price (less shipping) if item does not match the description.
