ALL OF OUR AUCTIONS ARE PRIVATE DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING FAKE EMAILS SENT TO UNDERBIDDERS. Fresh to the market are these ten rare extremely early images that were just obtained from a descendant of the famous Reverend Baldwin family of Oahu w they had been stored in a trunk for a generation or two. Reverend Dwight Baldwin (1798-1866) was a member of the Fourth Missionary Company (American Board of Commissions for Foreign Missions) having sailed from New Bedford Massachusetts on Dec 28, 1830 arriving in Honolulu June 7, 1831. He spent the first few years stationed at Waimea, Hawaii then moved on to Tahiti finally returning back to Hawaii w he was stationed at Lahaina Maui. Besides being an accomplished Doctor he was also Government Commissioner for Maui, Molokai, and Lanai during the smallpox epidemic of 1855. For more info on this illustrious person see the book "Missionary Album" published by the Hawaii Mission Children's Society in 1969). Cased images that relate to Hawaii are extremely rare and seldom seen. Several of the images have a name and possible date at the lower right hand corner but we cannot make it out. The family members in the images we have also not had the time to research but can tell you they came directly from a descendant who said these had not seen the light of day for years. The successful bidder will receive the descendants name on our letter head if so desired so good luck and don't let these fascinating and historic images slip you by. Also like all of our auctions these museum pieces are being put up with absolutely no reserve so good luck and be sure to check out our other rare and interesting listings. All images will be very carefully packaged and boxed and sent by insured by US post for a cost of $15.00 in the US or $30.00 foreign. All major credit cards accepted by fax with a signature.
THESE WERE EXTREMELY HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH AND ARE MUCH BETTER IN PERSON! These were found in a camphor trunk from the descendants of the A. Benner Family.
