This is a collection of 100+ copies of Yosemite Nature Notes from 1948 to 1962. They are as follows:
June 1938titled "101 Wildflowers of Yosemite" reprinted as 1 of 5000 copies in 1948 January 1943 titled "Bears of Yosemite" revised and reprinted in 1948 2 copies - April 1943 titled "A brief Story of the Geology of Yosemite Valley" reprinted in 1950 92 copies, one has the issue price of 10 cents stamped over with "15" and the subscription price changed from $1.00 to $1.50. January 1946 titled "Reptiles and Amphibians of Yosemite National Park" January 1947 titled "Broadleaved Trees" June 1949 titled "A Guide to the Yosemite Sequoias" 1950 - July through November 1951 - January & April 1952 - June (special number titled "Mammals of Yosemite"), September through December 1953 - January through December 1954 - missing August 1955 - missing January 1956 - missing November, December is missing front & back cover. (June is a special number titled "Self-Guiding Auto Tour) July, devoted to the early Yosemite history, is all about the July 1856 copy of Hutchings' California Magazine one of the earliest to discuss Yosemite . 1957 - January through December. December is titled "Your Guide to Happy Isles Nature Center " 1958 - missing June. March is titled "Guide to the Mariposa Grove Nature Trail" May is titled "Guide to the Inspiration Point" Cover title changes to " Yosemite "1959 - missing May & June 1960 - missing Jan. April, April & August 1961 - Numbers 3 & 4. Number 3 titled "The Tioga Road 1883 - 1961" Number 4 is titled " Wawona's Yesterdays" 1962 - Number 5Volume XXXIX No. 8 titled "Guide to Tuolumne Meadows Trails" Also included is a letter from the Business Manager of The Yosemite Natural History Association, dated September 1952, advising a subscriber who had sent a check for $3.00 to cover a three year subscription that the subscription price had been raised to $1.50/year. Nature Notes had been almost $1000 in "arrears" the prior year. Apparently The Yosemite Park and Curry Company was able to re-stamp all copies with the new rate. The subscriber was given one year at $1.00 but if he wished for three years, he would have to forward another dollar. If he opted for only two years, they would refund 50 cents.These Notes are in generally very good condition. T are some minor stains, minor sun fading and tears but none are significant.If you have any questions or would like additional photos, please let em know.
