11" Eskimo Inuit Soapstone Carving - Inuit Kayak Hunter Black Soapstone & Bone - Artist Signed"Alaskan Native Handicraft"Fine 11" long stylized carving of an Inuit seal hunter in his kayak, by a master Inuit carver - the hunter has a carved bone paddle, a bone and wood harpoon, and a soapstone seal bladder float. The kayak has a carved out area in which to place the hunter in the cockpit. The quality of the carving is exceptional and comes with a soapstone plinth for display! The striking black soapstone adds to the beauty of the piece.The piece is signed in Inuktitutand, and dated to1997. Weighs about 4 1/2 pounds. Size of the kayak is 11" long x 3 1/4" wide - it is 4 1/2" tall including the hunter but without the plinth - condition is excellent.
