11" VAN BRIGGLE LORELEI ART POTTERY VASE for your Arts and Crafts home
is the lovely lorelei from German legends and depicted by the famous Van Briggle pottery Colorado Springs, Colorado. This vase depicts a mermaid situated around the top rim of a vase whose body wraps around the remaining portion. One of the more famous designs created by Artus Van Briggle, the origin of the Lorelei is based on the story of a siren who haunted a boulder near the shores of the Rhine River. It was said her songs were so enchanting that sailors failed to adequately steer their ships and were ultimately led to their destruction. Well, real or not, this Lorelei is most enchanting. She stands slighly above 11 inches high and is of a good turquoise glaze for which Van Briggle is known. On the bottom is the Van Briggle mark, the place of origin (Colorado Springs, CO) and the mark of the finisher ~ in this case DR. The clay body is light beige. The rich matte turquoise glaze is not chipped, crazed, repaired, or cracked. As shown in the last picture t is a pin prick size dot of glaze missing on the reverse of the vase. Other than that she is perfect. Please ask all questions before bidding. I am no expert on Van Briggle, but will do my best to accurately answer. PAYMENT: PayPal SHIPPING: USPS priority mail, insurance highly recommended REFUNDS: Within 7 days for misrepresented items, money back less shipping costs. Don't bid unless you intend to pay. I report all non payment. Happy bidding!!!!!
