AN ELUSIVE KESTNER FACE!!

The earliest bisque dolls had very pale bisque and small almond shaped eyes, as was the fashion of the day. Think of the Portrait Jumeau or the early Fashion girls. This doll is modeled in that early style.

This is one of Kestner's early pale bisque girls. She has small, blue, almond-shaped eyes that are beautifully threaded and are in their stationary set. The artist who painted her gave her a coy, bow-shaped mouth and long arched eyebrows with many brush strokes. Even her teeth are the early square cut style! She is marked "2 1/2 c 1/2". She pre-dates the requirement for the "Made in Germany" mark.

Beauty's unjointed leather body is also early as it is completely leather with leather feet. The body shows wear, but it is sturdy and is not leaking sawdust. She wears a newer pink dress with bonnet and her beautiful wig is a synthetic replacement.

Alas, being a beloved doll, she is not without her trials and tribulations. Somew in her long life she met with an accident that left a very fine hairline on the left side of her face under the wig (it's the kind that you would need to light the head to see) and about a 3/8" chip along the hairline. Her right hand has a flake under the right pinky and ring fingers and thumb. As it is under the hand it does not show. She also has a small kiln dot on her nose and a couple more light spots on her lower cheeks.

is your chance to get a collection ready early Kestner beauty at a great price!
