For sale is a very nice Eubrontes dinosaur footprint measuring 12 inches long, 9.25 inches wide, and 0.5 inches tall. The track is preserved as an undertrack (hence the word tall). It is not a man-made reproduction. On the other side of the slab is the original footprint (see the two additional photos), which, because the mud was wetter at the top, did not preserve as well as the underlying part of the track . Eubrontes footprints are the largest theropod dinosaur footprints found in the Connecticut River Valley and were made by animals that reached 20 feet in length. Although no bones of the dinosaur that made Eubrontes have been found, paleontologists hypothesize that the dinosaur was similar to Dilophosaurus wetherilli , which was discovered in similarly-aged deposits in Arizona, in the American southwest. This footprint, which was made by the right foot of the dinosaur, is from the Upper Portland Formation of Granby, MA, and is thus about 201 million years old. All three toes are clearly visible, as are the claws at the ends of the toes. The claws measure up to 1.1 inches long! The print is preserved on a slab of gray shale measuring 12.5 by 13.5 inches. Because of the high relief, 0.5 inches, the footprint has not been highlighted; this high-quality display specimen will show up very well with just low-angle light. This print read more
