Set of 12 Victorian - era art nouveau style post cards or greeting cards. Various conditions, some feature incredible German art work and design. All were received 1910 - 1911 and are from the same estate. May Success Be Thine is the inscription on this vertical card. It features a Theatrical performer Sarah Bernhardt? on stage with the gold embossing on the happy/sad masks and trailing whymsies. Divided back. Card is inscribed but not postally used. Bottom corners bumped. A Happy New Year features a lightly soiled horizontal card with a young woman holding a calendar page that reads Jan 1. T is a winter scene of people entering a Church in the background. Eat, Drink and be Merry today : What is lost in the present is thrown away, You have no riches save what you use, And your foresworn pleasures are gone to stay. Brown card stock has a table laden with a feast of roast pig, fruit, wine etc. Inscribed, Dated 1914 and postally used. New Years Greeting 1910 is in fair condition with rubs and some creased. Another vertical, this card has an all-gold background and the lettering 1910 is made up of tiny flowers in blue. Divided back, postally used A Happy New Year is a very pretty vertical featuring some gorgeous Roses on the front with a small vignette of a farmhouse in the lower end.
