Set of 12 Victorian - era art nouveau style post cards or greeting cards. Various conditions, some feature incredible German art work and design. All were received 1910 - 1911 and are from the same estate. May Success Be Thine is the inscription on this vertical card. It features a Theatrical performer Sarah Bernhardt? on stage with the gold embossing on the happy/sad masks and trailing whymsies. Divided back. Card is inscribed but not postally used. Bottom corners bumped. A Happy New Year features a lightly soiled horizontal card with a young woman holding a calendar page that reads Jan 1. T is a winter scene of people entering a Church in the background. Eat, Drink and be Merry today : What is lost in the present is thrown away, You have no riches save what you use, And your foresworn pleasures are gone to stay. Brown card stock has a table laden with a feast of roast pig, fruit, wine etc. Inscribed, Dated 1914 and postally used. New Years Greeting 1910 is in fair condition with rubs and some creased. Another vertical, this card has an all-gold background and the lettering 1910 is made up of tiny flowers in blue. Divided back, postally used A Happy New Year is a very pretty vertical featuring some gorgeous Roses on the front with a small vignette of a farmhouse in the lower end. Some soiling, inscribed upon but not postally used. Lower portion of card has some staining, most noticable on the back of the card. A Happy New Year is one gorgeous German card. T is a pot of Shamrocks and a cherub. In the cherub's dress she's holding a bower of pink rosebuds, a golden horseshoe and a sack, presumably filled with gold coins. T is light soiling on the lower left edge. Liberal use of gold trim. Postally used and dated 1908. Many happy Returns of the Day is another highly embossed German Card with glorious roses, buds and greenery. Postally used. Jan 1 With Best New Year Wishes is a German card, great gold centerpiece ringed with a wreath of pink and red roses. Great Art Nouveau styling. Light soiling. Postally used dated 1910. A Happy New Year has four charming little children looking in the window towards the card viewer. The card is ringed with silver. Such sweet faces, they are adorable! this card has corner bumps and is postally used 1910. The last three cards have slightly heavier soiling and one has a stain and a short tear so I've lumped them all together. The most interesting of the lot has three Leprechauns..the top elf is standing on a silvery quarter moon and has $1,000 sacks. He's handing them down to an elf who is dangling on a rope as another looks on: a pretty unusual card. The other two have angels and cherubs herlading in the New Year and a simple winter scene. All are used. The cards will be boxed for protection and sent Priority mail. Insurance is optional. Other forms of payment include Money Orders or Cashier's Checks. Sorry, no personal checks.
