THE FIGHT FOR THE REGIMENTAL COLOURS This is a 5 X figure set of 120mm resin figures depicting an incident at the battle of Albuera fought on 16th May 1811 during the Peninsular campaign. It is part of the Defending the Colours range by Mitches Military Models which are based on the painting by William Barnes Wollen ( The battle of Albuera). The figures are suitable to be used with other figures from the range or as a complete diorama. They can also be painted to represent other units of the napoleonic period. Kits included in this set are; Mounted Polish Lancer trooper Ensign Chosen Man Officer raising pistol Grenadier company sergeant The british figures are supplied with a choice of headgear-belgic/stovepipe shako as well as an additional option of a cocked hat for the officer. The sergeant is also supplied with an optional head wearing a bearskin cap. The different types of headgear are shown in the photographs. During this battle the 3rd Foot (The Buffs) were part of a british brigade caught in line by two regiments of French cavalry who attacked during a thunderstorm which rendered the british muskets incapable of firing. Unable to form square in time these models represent a knot of soldiers g athered around the regiments colours.
