Matchlessantiques is offering collectors and smiths this RARE Double Horned Blacksmith Anvil. This anvil is the Old English Style and should date between 1800-1850 and was made by an English manufacturer by the name of WOOD. It may be the first "Wood" to be found and IS NOT listed in Old English anvils in the book Anvils In America. The author of the book, Richard Postman, inspected and recorded this anvil. The manufacturers name will be added to the list of known English anvil manufactures and will most likely be noted in the next book that is being written. The anvil is clearly marked, "WOOD, WARRANTED" on one side and has the weight marks, "1 0 11" on the other side which is the English stone weight for 123 lbs. The anvil has a hard face and clean edges. the horns are nice with normal use marks. I am not sure why, but t is a section on the face that was lightly ground off. Please take a close look at the pictures. The measurements are: overall length 24 1/4", face 4" x 8 7/8", height 10 1/2", base 9 1/2" x 10 1/4, round horn 7 1/2", square horn 7 7/8", hardie hole 5/8", pritchel hole 11/16", weight 123 lb. You won't see too many of these around, so don't miss this chance to own a rare double horn anvil. Satisfaction is guaranteed or your money back, does not include shipping. Lower 48 states s/h/i is only $60.00
