13 1/2" Early Neopolitan Lady Creche Figure - Glass Eyes - Wooden Body With Moveable Legs & Jointed Knees
Up for auction is a beautiful unusual early 13 1/2" Neopolitan lady creche figure with glass eyes, wooden body with moveable legs and jointed knees, and wonderfully handcarved upswept molded hair. This lady has a polychromed head, forearms, hands, forelegs and boots. Her head, forearms, hands, legs and shoes are made of wood. As you can see in the photos, this lady creche figure has an exquisitely hand carved face with brown glass eyes and intricately molded upswept hair. This doll's head and body are made from one piece of wood with moveable legs that are attached at the hip with jointed knees. Her forearms and hands are intricately carved - her upper arms are stuffed. This lady is dressed in a beautifully trimmed one-paneled dress with a gold and medium blue brocade top that has wide gold trim and a floral brocade silk skirt with a silk floral patterned panel both of which are trimmed with a wide ribbon brocade trim. She has painted white stockings and black molded boots with a pointed toe. The bottom of one shoe has the original pin that was used for her original base. As shown in the photographs, this fascinating lady is in wonderful condition with only some paintwear. Her delicate fingers are in wonderful condition. This lady's original costume has some overall wear and tattering only on the silk panel. This lady creche doll is truly amazing with a fascinating face, wooden body with moveable legs and jointed hips. She is odor free and from a smoke free home. The stand that this figure is using in the photographs is included in this auction.
