South Sumatran (Lampung), Indonesian BLUE amber is a recent find. This amber possesses a beautiful, deep blue color that sometimes can appear as violet (purple). While I have been offering Lampung green amber, this is among my first offerings of Lampung blue amber. The color rivals that of the finest Dominican and Chiapas (Mexican) blue amber. The blue color can be so intense that it can be seen even in dim sunlight. Up for purchase is a beautiful, 13.4 g, partially polished piece (front and one side of piece are polished) of extremely rare, untreated Lampung amber from the region of South Sumatra (Sumatera), Indonesia with a deep violet (purple) color that can appear blue depending upon how light is hitting it. The piece is transparent (see one of last pictures) and has a very high polish. The blue-violet color appears best when light is shining on rather than through the piece and is due to the natural, untreated, chemical fluorescent properties of the amber. I hand-sanded and polished the piece from rough originating from Indonesia. It was mined from the earth in the Indonesian province of Sumatra or Sumatera (southern region). No treatment of any kind was done to this to enhance the color. The known quantity of this material is considerably less than that of Dominican blue amber. I also have pieces of West Kalimantan Borneo Blue amber, Sulawesi Blue amber, and West Papua Blue amber for sale which exhibits a unique blue color also. A piece such as this would make a great addition to any fossil or gemstone collection. The piece weighs 13.4 grams (around 65 carats), and has a length of 32 mm, width of 30 mm, and height of varying mm. Please see all the pictures that were taken in natural sunlight.
